Adolf Hitler is known for being the leader of Nazi Germany and leading the systematic takeover of many European countries and the murder of more than 6 million Jews and millions of others deemed 'inferior'. He had always had German nationalist ideals, which likely fueled his rise to power after World War I, but started life in a very different way. Here are some unique and important facts about Hitler:
 
-Adolf Hitler was born in Austria in 1889.
 
-Hitler had four siblings that died in childhood. His father also died when he was just 13.
 
-Adolf Hitler wanted to be an artist growing up. He applied to Vienna Academy of Art twice, but was rejected both times because he had never finished his primary schooling.
 
-After Hitler's mother died, his anti-Semitic views grew and overtook the artistic side of him. He eventually moved to Munich and enlisted in the German army during WWI.
 
-Hitler was injured during the war and became a decorated war hero. When Germany surrendered, however, Hitler felt like he had been stabbed in the back by the country that he loved so dearly.
 
-Hitler joined the German Workers Party in 1919, quickly becoming a leader and renaming it the Nazi party. He used this as his tool to help him rise to power.
