Joseph Mengele was one of the most notable men involved in the Holocaust. As an SS doctor, he performed tons of medical experiments on the prisoners being held at Auschwitz and was known for various poor practices, torture, and other horrible practices that are still shocking to people today.

Oskar Dirlewanger was a German-born Nazi Party member with a political science degree. He joined the Nazi party in 1923, working as the manager of a knitwear factory until 1932 when he was designated as a leader of the SA. He was imprisoned in 1934 for molesting a minor and then in 1937 he became a member of the Condor Legion where he fought for Franco as a part of the Spanish Civil War. In 1939, Dirlewanger applied to the SS but was denied because of his conviction for molestation.

Odilo Globocnik, an Austrian SS leader, played a major role in the Holocaust. Although his name isn't as infamous as Himmler or Eichmann, he still was an incremental part of the plot to eliminate the Jewish community from Europe entirely. He was the leader of Operation Reinhard, named for Heydrich (The Hangman), one of the most feared Nazi leaders of all time.

The fates of various Nazi Party members throughout the end of World War II are spread all over the map in terms of what happened to them. Many took a cue from their faithful leader, Adolf Hitler, and committed suicide to avoid capture and punishment. These war criminals would never have to face their crimes.

There are many movies about the Holocaust, such as "Sophie's Choice," "Schindler's List," "Life is Beautiful," and many others. While these films have a very important place, it's important for viewers to step back and examine them in the right light. As with any historic tragedy, filmmakers face a great challenge when covering the Holocaust. Films that are destined for movie theaters must be designed to entertain.
